Zenit Games has announced the indie developer’s top-down shooter titled They Hunger is now officially available in Early Access on Google Play. Players can expect to fight against hordes of the undead as they try their best to survive the zombie apocalypse for as long as possible.
Solo developer Daniel has been working on this passion project for six months non-stop to fulfil his childhood dream of creating games. In They Hunger, players can expect to withstand bigger and bigger waves of the infected while they buff up their survivability with weapon upgrades and special boons from clearing missions. Players can also buy different skins to spice things up during the apocalypse.
Players apparently have to fight against the machinations of the so-called “purple wizard”, whose experimental meddling has turned a lofty dream of creating enhanced soldiers into complete tragedy. Now, citizens have been turned into the undead, and these zombified subjects will stop at nothing to get a taste of some delicious brain.
The game features charming artwork and graphics that delightfully contradict the gloom and doom of the zombie apocalypse. From the screenshots available online, it seems like you can also throw grenades as well to switch up your weapons to pick the most efficient kill. There is also a wave count and a kill count that lets you check how far you’ve come in keeping your brain intact.
If you’re curious to know more, you can download They Hunger on the Google Play Store for Android devices during its current Early Access phase. It’s a free-to-play game with in-app purchases and ads.
